Meetings (Programme)

When: Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of the month from September to June.

Where:

  • NEW! From September to December and then again from April to June, meetings are in-person and held at Greenbelt Church, 839 Shefford Road, Gloucester. This is near #174 and Montreal Road exit, beside the SensPlex east. 
    • Note that our location has CHANGED and WE NO LONGER MEET AT MIFO (6600 rue Carriere in Orleans).
  •  7:30 p.m. (doors open at 6:30) for all in-person meetings.
  • January, February and March meetings are virtual, using Zoom, and also start at 7:30 p.m. Zoom links are sent to the membership a few days before the meeting.

Members should bring their membership card to every meeting.
Visitors are welcome to all our meetings – cost $5/meeting.

October 14 Guild Meeting Programme: Jennifer Tryon (Topic: Jennifer’s journey from television news to starting a quilt shop in Kingston; touching on her involvement with Sew Shapes Campaign. She will also bring a pop-up shop of the month.)

November 11 Guild Meeting Programme: Michelle VanDyk, also on Youtube. (Topic: Michelle will talk about her quilting journey. She will offer insights into the creative opportunities presented by scrap quilts, reflect on the mistakes she has made throughout her quilting experience, and the lessons learned from them. She will demonstrate how fabric choices can dramatically alter the personality of a pattern. Michelle will also discuss the importance of pushing creative boundaries and continually developing new skills as a quilter.)

December 9 Guild Meeting Programme: Jen McMillan of Fabric Ink. Jen will discuss needle turn applique and have a trunk show as well. Jen won third place at Quilt Canada 2024 for her POP (pink, orange, purple ) quilt in the bed category.

Update: attendees received small applique block kits (thanks Ruth!) to finish and bring to our next in-person meeting for a community quilt, AND Jen provided some resources in a blog post about her CTQG presentation.

February 10 – Virtual Guild Meeting Programme: Silly Moon Quilting. This is a British Columbia based business that designs and makes quilting machine rulers and tools. Kellie, owner and founder of SMQC will do a presentation titled, Quilting with Rulers – It is Not Scary!
